In 1979, Sean founded Shellspen International, Inc. Inspired by his father’s invention of a ceramic shell slurry that chemically suspended itself rather than needing constant mixing, Sean’s foundry technique revolutionized the field of casting. With decades of hands-on experience as an artist and craftsman/creator/inventor of new methods and techniques. Sean has restored Ringling Museum’s David, sculptures on St. Armands Circle, the Jack Cartlidge Collection for the City of Sarasota and numerous other sculptures on Florida’s West Coast.

With Cartlidge and Colson Architectural Arts, Sean is at the forefront of leading-edge art technology, integrating new digital tools like laser scanning and 3D printing. As an entrepreneur, he embraces the innovation of the future while preserving the traditions of the past.

Randy Cartlidge is a restoration consultant and master craftsman with extensive experience in the conservation and repair of historic and contemporary sculptures. His expertise spans a wide range of methods and materials, including copper, bronze, wood, stained glass, plaster, and ceramic, and he approaches each project with a goal of ensuring the structural integrity and artistic authenticity of every restored piece.

Randy has collaborated with museums, churches, architects, interior design firms, collectors, and historical institutions to repair and restore sculptures affected by time, environmental conditions, and damage. He continuously refines his techniques through research and hands-on restoration projects. His approach combines traditional craftsmanship with modern engineering, allowing him to provide tailored restoration solutions that fulfills each client’s needs.
